The precise f rmule f r the damping rati f different type f st ry-added structures are deduced based n energy principle. Acc rding t the shear structure characteristics, the f rmule adapted t the written calculati ns are derived. The f rmule is nly related t the vibrati n m de and st ry mass with g d precisi n c mpared with precise f rmula. Tw calculati n examples are suggested. It is f und that m dal damping rati varies with different st ry-added material and different damping rati f st ry-added structure respectively. There is a big err r f r calculating the damping rati f frame structure directly with the shear frame structure m del.
