Pilot ladders are checked thoroughly before every use. Ensure proper stowage of the pilot ladders to prevent it from fouling, wear and formation of ice. Clear any present dirt and dust. Ensure the steps and ropes are free of oil, grease and paint. Ensure chokes and guard rings are present and in good condition. Ensure vessel has enough spares to repair
