选择性必修一 Unit 3 Reading and Thinking 【Teaching Objectives:】 Develop students reading comprehension skills, including skimming, scanning, and summarizing. Improve students vocabulary acquisition related to nature and adventure. Foster students critical thinking by discussing the significance of preserving natural areas. Encourage students to reflect on their own outdoor experiences and appreciation for nature. 【Teaching Key and Difficult Points:】 Understanding the main ideas and details in the text. Reflecting on the importance of environmental conservation. 【Teaching Procedure:】 Step 1. Warm-Up: Personal Connections to Nature Ask students to share their favorite outdoor experiences or natural places theyve visited. Discuss the benefits of spending time in nature and how it can impact ones well-being. Step 2. Pre-Reading Display an image of Sarek National Park and discuss its location and significance. Briefly introduce the concept of a national park and its purpose for preserving natural areas. Step 3. While-Reading Activity 1: Skimming and Scanning Provide a brief overview of the article. Divide students into pairs and give each pair a set of questions related to the articles main points. Instruct students to skim and scan the article to find the relevant information to answer the questions. Activity 2: Vocabulary Enrichment Select key vocabulary words from the article and create a vocabulary list. Discuss the meanings of these words as a class. Have students work individually or in pairs to create sentences using the new vocabulary. Activity 3: Comprehension Check Prepare a set of multiple-choice questions based on the content of the article. Conduct a class discussion to answer the questions and explain the reasoning behind the choices. 1.
