Unit 1 Teenage Life Reading and Thinking 课题 Reading and Thinking 单元 Unit 1 Teenage Life 教材 分析 The text is mainly about the challenges the freshman, Adam, came across in his senior high school. The students are familiar with the topic. And it can be divided into two parts. The first part is the first paragraph which introduces the theme of the text: Going from junior high school to senior high school is a big challenge. Then the rest paragraphs of the passage talks about the challenges that Adam met in senior high school, through which the author leads the students to face difficulties and challenges bravely and optimistically. 教学目标与核心素养 By the end of the class, we will be able to: find out main ideas of the article by skimming. learn the challenges Adam met and how he overcame them . 重点 Improve the students’ ability to analysis the structure of the article. Enable the students to understand how to skim. 难点 Make the students identify the main ideas by skimming. 教学过程 教学环节 教师活动 学生活动 设计意图 Step1 Lead-in Watch a short video and discuss the questions in groups: What would you tell a foreign teenager about school life in China? What do you want to know about school life in other countries? Discuss with their partners and voice their opinions. -Activate students’ own knowledge about education in China and abroad and serve as a warm-up activity for the reading text. Step 2 Pre- reading Look at the title and the picture,then predict what the text is about ? Students answer the questions together. spark their curiosity in learning the text.
