Grade 7MYP Year 2Introduction: You and your group are going to design, conduct and evaluate an experiment together. You will need to fill in each part of the Lab Report Section and this will be assessed on a rubric, and you will be given a grade (Criterion B and C). You are going to investigate whether temperature affects the solubility of CuSO4.5H20.Headings in Bold: These headings appear at the top of the Rubric (in the Strands). These headings are used to Grade your experiment and lab report. Make sure you follow the instructions and look at the rubric prompts so you can achieve the maximum marks for each heading/strand.Lab Report SectionResearch Question: You will need to create a research question that can be answered by an experiment. Outline your research question with IV and DVDescribe your question based on your prior knowledge or observationHow would the solubility of water be Influenced by the temperature of water?(Rubric Criterion B/ Strand 1/ 7-8 Band: Describe a problem or question to be tested by a scientific investigation that contains IDV and DV) . DV –Dependent variable.Hypothesis/ Prediction: Background ResearchThe solubility of a substance can be described quantitatively as the number of grams of the substance dissolved in a given amount of a solvent at a certain temperature. Solubility can be determined experimentally.The solubility is the amount of a particular solute (the mass of the copper sulfate) that dissolves in a certain amount of a particular solvent (volume of water) to make a saturated solution at a given temperature. This quantitative value is true for that for that solute in that solvent at that temperature, no matter where in the world it is tested. While the rate of dissolving can change depending on how the mixture is treated as it dissolves, the solubility is a constant. The size of the pieces of solute and the amount of stirring do not affect it.Solubility is a physical property of a substance. P
