What is MPI/Fiber ⚫ A separate module used to calculate the orientation due to flow in fiber-filled materials as well as the resultant thermo-mechanical properties of the composite part ⚫ It is important to understand and optimize the orientation of fibers within a part in order to reduce shrinkage variations and minimize warpage What is a Fiber ysis ? ⚫ A flow ysis that predicts the distribution of short glass fibers in a molded part  Adding fiber to a polymer can rease its strength and ensure that good quality parts are produced What is a Fiber ysis ? ⚫ All standard flow calculations are performed ⚫ In addition the following results are calculated  Average fiber orientation  Fiber orientation tensor ⚫ Graphical output is available to show the fiber distribution ⚫ The results are critical as input into a warpage ysis of a fiber filled material  Mechanical properties and fiber orientation calculated for every layer  avity residual stress calculated for every layer What are the Prerequisites ? ⚫ License of MPI/Flow ⚫ License of MPI/Fiber ⚫ Can be used with either Fusion or Mid ne technology ⚫ Outputs are used in  MPI/Warp • (Fusion and Mid ne)  MPI/Stress • (Mid ne only) Why use Fillers ? ⚫ Fillers change the material properties of the composite and improve existing matrix properties • reased stiffness • reased strength • Reduced creep and stress relaxation over time – time dependant properties • reased upper temperature use limits • Improved dimensional stability • Reduced material costs •
