SMS Manager Important Terms: SMS : Short Messaging Service (SMS), sometimes called text messaging, allows users to send and receive al text messages directly to and between phones.You can access licensing information by navigating to SMSC : An SMS center (SMSC) is responsible for handling the SMS operations of a wireles work. When an SMS message is sent from a phone, it will reach an SMS center first. The SMS center then forwards the SMS message towards the destination. An SMS message may need to pass through more than one SMSC before reaching the destination. The main duty of an SMSC is to route SMS messages and regulate the process. SMPP : The Short Message Peer-to-Peer (SMPP) protocol is a munications industry protocol for exchangin S messages between SMS peer entities such as short message service centers and/or External Short Messaging Entities (an external application that connects to an SMSC to engage in the sending 5 and/or receiving of SMS ) It is often used to allow third parties SMS Manager ( ) Features: – Avaya SMS Manager is the entity used by POM to send outbound SMS to a Service Provider.
