In brief
Pan et al. report that UTP18 is
consistently upregulated in the colorectal
normal-adenoma-carcinoma sequence,
predicts poor prognosis, and is
associated with adenoma recurrence and
serodiagnosis of colorectal cancer. Non-
SUMOylation induces the nuclear export
of UTP18, which mediates the instability
of p21 mRNA, drives the cell-cycle and
adenoma-to-carcinoma progression.
