Unit 5 Do you want to watch a game show? Section B 2a-2e Hello, honorable teachers and judges. It’s my great honor to stand here and share my teaching design with all of you. Today my topic is Unit 5 Do you want to watch a game show？Section B 2a to 2e. My passage is from Go for it, published by People’s Education Press，the first book of Grade 8. I’ll divide my presentation into 3 parts: general introduction, teaching procedures and features of the design. The first part is general introduction. I will talk about it from the following seven parts. The new English curriculum showed us how to analyze the passage from three parts, they are what, why and how. So I design all my activities from low level to high level based on the core competence of English curriculum, Bloom’s taxonomy of learning and the view of English learning activities. So based on the guiding theory, I will interpret the reading material from three dimensions, what, why and how. Number 1: What. This passage is from Unit five. The topic of this unit is entertainment and the function is to talk about preferences and how to make plans. This is the fourth period, it’s a reading and writing lesson which focuses on Mickey Mouse, a symbol of American culture. Number 2: Why. By studying Mickey’s story, the purpose of this article is to help students learn the spirit of Mickey, know more about the background of Mickey and why people like him. What’s more, we will get a better understanding of the variety of culture. Number 3: How. This passage is a typical narrative. Time order is also adopted. The writer explains an introduction of Mickey first, then tells us the reasons why Micky is so popular and achievements Mickey Mouse made. So, based on the analysis of the teaching material, let’s come to my lovely and perfect students. I will analyze the target students with KWL chart.
