A bstract: LIN ai- yu. sE legy on F low ers is a famous poem inThe S tory of the S tone. This paper ami s to compare its
two versions by Yang Xianyi and avidHawkes respectively from the follow ing aspects: first the beauty in sense, sound
and form; second, literary quotations; third, person. Through the comparations, the auther tries to get a conclusion that
Yang. s version is relatively faithful to the originalwork whileHawkes. ismore free. In aword, these two translations
each has its strong point.
