Abstract：Ithasbeen30yearssincetheimplementofthereform andopeninguppolicyinChina．W iththeim—
provementoflivingstandard，peoplecaremoreaboutthequalityoftheirlife，therefore，htepast30yearsisa
crucialperiodforthedevelopmentoftourism industry，tourism disciplineandtourism planninginChina．This
paperanalyzesthehistory oftourism developmentinChinafrom 3aspectsincludingtourism transfomr ation
andupgrading，independentinnovationoftourism theoriesaswellasevolutionoftourism planning．Inother
words， thedevelopmentoftourism inChinaisatransformationfrom htefast—food—sytletoconsumptive
leisuretourism whichisaprocessofestablishmentandprofessionalizationoftourism disciplineaswellasan
explorationofstandardizationandmarketizationoftourism planning． Tourism growsmorematureandsys—
tematicgradually． Somebigeventsplayimportantrolesinthedevelopmentofdomestictourism industry，
tourism disciplineandtourism planning．Castinglightontheseeventsanddeeplyanalyzingthem，theauhtors
findthattheirfunctionsintheprocessofChina’srefomr andopeningupofthese30yearsareofpracticalsig-
nificanceofrtheimplementationofhtesrtategyofreinvigoratingChinathroughtourism development．This
paperdividesthepast30yearsinto3satgeswith 10yearsofrevery stage， aftersummarizingthertackof
tourism development． Theauthorsfindthattheexplorationoftourism disciplineandtheprocessoflinking
theory withpracticeintouris
