Methodss Strptococcus muta from caries-active group,caries-free group and international standard strain group were put into BHI culture medium with 5g/L and /L proplis extract in water,into BHI with /L proplis extract in ethanol and into BHI culture medium which was taken as the control; after anaerobic culture for 48 hou,centrifugation was made,the pH value of supermatant in each solution was detected with acurate acidity tester and △pH was calculated; the results were compared. Results Acidogenencity of caires-active group and of international standard strain group was much higher than that of caries-free group; proplis extract in water or in ethanol decreased the acidogenecity of streptococcus muta; the comparison of each group with proplis to the control was of statistical significance (P<); the effect comparison between the solution with proplis extract in ethanol and the solution with 5g/L proplis extract in water in decreasing acidogenecity was of no statstical significance while their effects in decreasing acidogenecity were obiously stronger than that of the solution with /L proplis extrat in water; the effect of proplis in caries-active group was without significant difference from that in caries-free group.
