Lead-in (Read and think) Q: why do you think this passage is good? Paragraph 1:Mr. Hydes was in bed when he heard screaming before 9 p· m.He was confused and woke up immediately. He went out and saw the thick smoke spreading from his neighbor’s house. It seemed that Mr. Hydes realized something bad had happened. He came up with his neighbors— the children’s mother and the grandfather and asked them what happened. His neighbours said: “the house catches fire and my kids are inside. Could you help me?”and the mother cried with hopelessness. John Hydes run towards the house without thinking twice. And he saved the two children successfully. But the dangerous scene couldn’t be removed from his mind. Paragraph 2:“I was greeted(映…的眼帘)by two black and whitefaces screaming for help,”he said.“They were sitting in the bedroom and crying loudly. I could feel their fear about the fire and the thick smoke. As a firefighter for 15 years, I poured the water in the quilt quickly. Then I began to try to calm them down and lead them out. But the smoke was so thick that I couldn’t see the road (passageway) clearly. Luckily, we went out finally ,”recalling the thrilling scene, Mr. Hydes was still fearful.
