Metaphor is a type of analogy and is closely related to other rhetorical figures of speech that achieve their effects via association, comparison or resemblance including allegory, hyperbole, and simile. Simile The word simile comes from Latin word simile, meaning like. A simile is a figure of speech which makes a comparison between two unlike elements having at least one quality or characteristic in common.
