In addition, many companies apply the principles of object orientation using the Java programming language. Since students taking this module are doing an engineering degree, it is important to expose them to the basic principles of designing and implementing software applications using an object oriented language. This should provide them with the principles and techniques that are commonly used in the industry when doing software development. This is a core module that is taught to students on both the H6N2 and H6NF programmes of study. The module aims to give students unfamiliar with object oriented programming: knowledge of the basic concepts of programming in an object-oriented language, knowledge of the basic features of the Java programming language, practice in developing simple object-oriented programs.
